I was given this pair of JBL headphones with a problem so I could see if I can fix them.
The headphones had an angled connector that was probably kicked while plugged in and it developed a crack right on the bend in the connector.
Since this was impossible to be repaired, I bought a new connector and decided to replace it.
The entire process is simple but it does require some patience as the clearances on the connector and the wire thicknesses are really small so a stead hand is a must.
You can find everything that I used in the video on the list below:
- 4 Pole 3.5mm Headphone jack
- 3 Pole 3.5mm headphone jack
- Precision Soldering Iron
- Soldering flux
- Soldering helping hand
- Fumes extractor
- Multimeter
- Wire snips
- X-Acto knife
