Reyax RYLR993 Lite Module with External Antenna: Long-Range Communication in IoT Projects

LoRa (Long Range) communication is a wireless communication technology that has gained popularity in the IoT (Internet of Things) industry due to its long-range capabilities and low power consumption. In a typical LoRa communication, several kilometers of range can be achieved very easily, but the actual range can vary depending on the environmental factors and the hardware used.

In this video, I'm exploring the range of LoRa communication using the Reyax RYLR993 lite module with an external antenna. The module supports LoRaWAN, Helium, and the LoRa proprietary communication, making it easy to integrate with various IoT projects.

Reyax was kind enough to provide the module for free and I'm really thankful for that.

To test the range of the module, we used an RYLR998 module as a base station, where one was placed on my balcony and the other, I carried along while moving through the field. The RYLR993 module was also carried along, and the communication range was tested by transmitting data between the two modules.



The results were astounding, with a communication range of up to 20 kilometers achieved! This is an impressive distance for wireless communication technology, especially one that is so low in power and can work for hours on a mobile phone. The external antenna on the RYLR993 module helped to improve the signal strength and extend the range even further.

The Reyax RYLR993 lite module is easy to use and can be integrated with various IoT projects. The module is compatible with popular development boards such as Arduino and ESP8266, making it accessible to a wide range of developers.

In conclusion, LoRa communication technology has proven to be a reliable and efficient solution for long-range wireless communication in the IoT industry.
